Author: Chris Pickering Unit: Genetics Lesson #4 Title: Genetics: What About the Children?!?! Lesson Overview The students will work all class period in pairs on their family tree assignment.
Objectives 1. Students will complete the family tree part of their inquiry assignment.
Materials Poster Board Markers Colored Pencils Rulers Construction Paper Scissors Glue
Opening To start the class I will ask if there are any questions on the project. (10 minutes)
Learning Activities Students will separate into their pairs and will be given the remaining time of the period to work on their inquiry assignment. (1 hour) Closing I will wrap up telling the students to help clean up the mess. I will then tell them that their reflection is due the next class and that we will be learning about pedigrees and codominance next class. I will also take questions about what is expected for homework.
Assessment Family tree is to be handed in with punnet squares.
Homework Students will be required to write a 1-2 page reflection on the family tree project. There will be guiding questions for the students to answer.
